Barrett Jackson

actually it was $247,500 I priced it wrong before, cheap, way cheap !!

according to their website & the auction results

Correct me if I'm wrong but one of those cars is not the real one. I think the snakes is real and the Mongoose is a clone. One of the haulers was Richard Petty's as well.

Bud - we're talking about the Snake and Mongoose cars and rigs - right? They stalled at $1 mil on the block, so they would have sold for more than that afterward, wouldn't they?

+1

If it bid to 1mil, I find it hard to believe they closed the deal for that much less...or maybe they had a public number and had a side deal too...

I believe you are correct, Snakes car was original, in the truck was a complete ready to run cast iron block motor plus trans.

Yes, 64 Belvedere and GP are correct about the cars. One of the haulers was originally Richard Petty's (Snake's, I believe) and the other was originally Sox and Martin's. Phil Burgess on nhra.com had some good write ups on them a year or two ago.

yeah your correct, they've both been around for a while... both used in the Snake & Mongoose movies too... the McEwen Mongoose Duster F/C was/is a copy/clone/tribute, not the original car... the haulers were second hand even when the Snake & Mongoose got them originally too... they are/were pretty rare even way back in 1970-71... Don had them restored back to the paint scheme they had in the match racing days...

yeah... I think it stalled out at like $100k not $1 million

your correct

{I STAND Corrected, bid got to $1 million then stalled out, I was wrong...LOL...} nope I don't think it ever got anywhere near that high, it stalled out very early in the bidding... you can check the BJ site for the Scottsdale results/prices {under "results" on Sat. IIRC} it has what every car sold for @ Scottsdale... {that part is still correct, go to the sat. results & it shows $247,500...} maybe it was missing a 1 in-front of it... or it was $247,500 for each of the 4 pieces, that would be $990,000... not sure what up with that, it was listed as one lot, all 4 items included...

I know there is a better viedo out there but this is all I could find. Looks like it got to 1 million dollars (in my best Dr Evil voice)

sorry if I caused any un-needed confusion

Rick Hendrick bought them after they crossed the block I heard the agreed price was $990,000.00 Saved a pile of commission money close to 18% on the sale price! It was cool to see them together again for sure! I remember back in the days of true Funny Cars!! It's sad to know they'll never see the light of day cept for the elite! I was surprised Snake didn't drive it one last time on too the block!
