O.K I've decided to stick to the plan of putting the battery in the trunk but have another question. What is the best way to get it to the starter, I layed under the car for quite a while "it's tight under there". The only place I see that you can bring it threw and keep it somewhat away from the headers is from the frame rail right between the opening in the headers. Running it up the tranny and then up gets it pretty close and there is the shifter linkage, trans coolant lines, etc. Then there's the torsion bar crossmember (looks like either under or threw it which means drilling holes). Hopefully 65 Hemi see's this his battery installation looked great. Thanks

I ran the cable along the back of the trunk, over the wheel well behind the rear panel, in the "wiring tray" on the driver side (where the rear wiring harness is located), then through the clutch hole in the firewall (my car is an auto), then over to the starter. I don't like drilling holes everywhere so I used clips and existing holes to secure the cable in place. Sounds like you are planning on running the cable on the underside of the car. I kept mine inside the car.

I always rin mine under the car. On my 68 runner I ran ran it through the frame rail and then crossed over in front of the the tranny. My 65 Coronet I ran it under the car again but throught the trunk to the drivers side, then to the front of the car.
I always use a Ford solenoid in the trunk to make the positive battery lead to the starter is hot only when cranking.

I got my cable routed "really happy with it" I'll post pics as soon as I get some. When you say you use a solenoid I'm assuming you have a separate wire ran for powering the cars fuse panel. I was thinking about some way to protect the system in the case of a short, the way I have it routed I can't see any problems but who knows.
