Can anyone describe how they have installed their battery in the trunk.(64 Fury)I have the interior totally out and I was thinking of running the wire next to the sill plate versus going underneath.Any preference on which side to use.The pos. wire will go to a mini-starter-then bact to a junction stud where the cooling fans and 150 amp alternator will located. Thanks

Your choice,,,, you have to get from the passenger side to the drivers side at one end or the other,,,,,,

I like to run everything down the right side of the car. I know it doesn't make much of a difference but weight is weight and no use adding anymore to the driver's side....

Even though he's planning to run the cable inside, i always understood its best to keep the battery cable on the opposite side of the car from the fuel line whenever possible. That way in an accident possible electrical sparks will be kept away from a possibly leaking fuel line. Plus it needs to end up on the drivers side at the starter anyway. my three cents!

i personally run the cable outside right next to battery, across trunk area, and up dr side.keeps it away from fuel line and i dont like anything inside dr compartment that i dont need.i may be a bit paranoid on this but i have been upsidedown too many times not to be.

Anybody have pics of their setup? I need cables for my 64 anyway, and I don't think it would look right with the batt in the bay. The turbo start batteries are listed as a "sealed" battery, but are they the same as an optima style battery? I'd rather not have to vent it if at all possible. I would recommend a good quality isolating clamp to secure the exposed cable. Where do you guys secure your ground cable?

These pictures are from the 65 Plymouth Texas Rattler.

Good point but man, you got to crash hard for that to happen imo.....and if you do, sparks from the metal grinding on the pavement will produce the spark.

LOL! Man, what did you do to get upside down so many times!? I tried while in a 'private' demo derby a few times and never succeeded and I've been sideways doing 60+ many times!! So far my record for donuts is 8 lol

I put my battery in a plastic marine case with a cover. I also ran my cable inside the car but I did not want that battery cable hot all the time. So I use a Ford starter solenoid in my trunk so that the large battery cable is only hot while cranking. Then I run a 10 gauge wire that has a fuseable link on it at the battery to the factory starter relay to feed everything in the car. Ron

If you notice. I ran mine threw the trunk floor and alone the frame rail. Then across the tunnel and down the drivers side. Attached with rubber mounting brackets. My cable may look a little loose right now cause its not finished. Safest way to run in my experience. I bought my battery box from Summit. Comes with all hardware needed. Red with a lid and strap to secure battery in box.
