BB waterpump

hi i have a 383 cast iron waterpump. Today the round front part with the impellor crapped itself. I have the choice of getting a complete alloy wp or a complete iron one both for the same price. Since nothing is wrong with the iron housing i will leave it in place and just replace the front part from either of the 2 waterpumps mentioned.
My question is can i use the round front alloy part with the iron housing or will there be some sort of reaction between the two different metals

you can use either, there is no reaction between aluminum and steel, and if there was, you would have a gasket and silicone in between the two anyway. whichever you choose, will be fine.

You CAN use just an aluminum w/p on the cast iron w/p housing.If it IS in your budget,I would get the aluminum housing also:icon_jook:
