I didn't really mean 1:1. I was thinking 1 little bottle per gallon of gas...basically mixing it per instructions like for yer average weed-whacker.
These used a single-point distributor, I assume? I was gonna take a points set and condenser out there with me, so we're on the same page there. I kinda want to go get this thing NOW, TODAY. But I gotta go to work...dang.

I'll get some pics next time I go out there. I just gotta figure out how to get em from my phone to the forum. I don't have a computer, Photobucket won't let me access my acct for some reason and picassa pisses me off every time I try to sign up. Not meaning to divert this thread into a different direction, BUT...is there a phone available these days that'll let you post photos directly to forums? I'm past due for an upgrade, so if there's one that can perform that little bit of wizardry, I'm all over that sucker.
 
It's probably rusty to boot......... If it's worth draggin' home - that's what you should do - then take your time to get it running - brakes - tires - think safety before driving it..... A U-haul car trailer is your friend....

Naaah, not much of a rust issue really. I wouldn't be buying it if it was a rust bucket. Been there, done that and, more importantly, learned to not do it again. I pulled my old International Scout out of a flooded Illinois bean field (flood of 93. It had been under water at one point) and drove that thing 120 miles home. By the time I got home I was looking THROUGH the steering wheel as opposed to over it. I thought the seat brackets were collapsing...no such luck: the floor was gone (hey, it was dark and you know, "eyes on the road, not on yer crumbling floor"). I propped the seat up w an oak cabinet door and drove and wheeled that thing for 3 yrs. Then I sold it, oak seat support and all.

Not to say those weren't fun times, but I have no desire to reenact that little tableau.

Congratulations on lighting that 225 after so long, Beep. I would probably buy this truck anyway even if it "only" had a /6....those things are great.

The 2 stroke oil mix (50:1 works for me) assures the extra lube in the top end and cylinders, and yep it smokes. By using an external tank it also keeps all the old crap out of the carb. Makes me feel better too!
 
Good suggestions all. Unfortunately I wont be using them on this particular rig...I had to pass it up. Spent most of the day with it yesterday and decided that its gonna take another G to get it even "car-guy" streetable. The big problem is the hydraulic system(s): needs new booster, master and wheel cylinders, clutch master and slave cylinders, clutch disc, pp, probably flywheel, and, oh yeah, the radiator is FUBAR....but the engine isn't seized. Those things along with some other weirdness (like the shank-style lug nuts on steel wheels. 32 new lug nuts? You can do the math) and unmarked toggle switches everywhere made me decide to leave it where it sits. Somebody will buy it, its going on Craigslist soon. I'm gonna keep looking.

I agree, this isn't something you'd actually want to use for off-roading....but pretty amazing, (even better in person).
