Dear all,

I am currently restoring my 1970 Charger and have installed an orange box kit from manciniracing.
The engine runs but was not on the street yet. Furthermore, it starts immediately.

But after shuting of the engine, the orange box is making a beep sound and only stops when i disconnect the battery.

Anybody a clue why the box is beeping? what could be wrong?

I see you just join today, the local may get restless if they don't see any pics, please go to the welcome wagon and introduced yourself, your car and some pics please.
:xscuseless:

I take it the noise doesnt start until you start or crank the engine?? You may have to call them in the AM and see if its a known issue.

A few years ago I did a tear down of a "Orange Box" electronic ignition module. On this forum I posted pictures of the innards and a schematic. There is nothing capable of creating a beeping noise or any other noise within the orange electronic ignition module.

Never seen a Mopar ignition box beep. Mancini version may be different, ask them.

hmm, yep the noise starts after i let the engine run and shut it off and then it beeps till i disconnect the negative battery cable

From my perspective, the sound is clearly coming from the direction of my orange box but will try to listen again.

Will unhook the coil, distributor etc in a sequence and check where it is coming from

anything else which in a stock config could make that sound?

WAG, key in ignition with door open & engine off? Seems like that ringer is under dash, not near ignition box. Ask Mancini.

Sounds like the "Key in" buzzer to me. Never heard an Ignition box buzz before....unless something went horribly wrong....but it would more than likely just fail.

try it again, then when the buzzing starts, unplug the 5-way molded plug that goes onto the Orange Box. Then report back to us. :)

For a former Pittsburgher, would you please re-post your pix and schematic of your tear down of the Mopar orange ignition module. I csnnot serm to locate it thru the forum. Thanks in advance for your help. BTW....what part of the 'Burg are you from? I use to live in Monroeville and attended many of the local shows in and around the area. If its easier for you, you can PM me.
