hi kids....i have recently found myself in a good position....and somewhat of a quandary. i have a story to tell and maybe this will explain things and bring things more to light
back a few weeks ago when i was having trouble with the belvy flooding, i found myself on the side of the road with the hood up. along comes this dude on a Norton motorcycle. he pulls up and says "...MAN,,,I REALLY HATE TO SEE A MOPAR STRANDED LIKE THAT " . my reply was.." well ..im not to thrilled about it myself". we became friends. he tells me that he has a 66 charger...but it hasnt run since he got it....this has been 10 years now. new rebuilt 383 and NEVER BEEN TURNED OVER OR STARTED IN 10 YEARS.
My immediate thought was ..." oh great another gearhead with a rust bucket charger thinkin he got something here ".....but thats not the case. we went to see his charger and....ITS CLEANNNNNNNNNNN..... no rust,,,,dents,,,,putty,,,,NUTHIN. however the dash is torn out but all the parts are there.......which brings me to half an hour ago.
he tells me that he wants the car to run and gets excited about THINKING about it running and driving.....one problem tho...... he is a nice guy but just cant seem to stay out of the BARS. ( something i just last year gave up ...DRINKING !)
NOW I KNOW DAMN WELL THAT THAT 66 CHARGER IS NEVER GOING TO RUN AS LONG AS IT IS IN HIS GARAGE......so....i start thinking as im on the phone with him...........
he mentions that his Norton bike is not running well, and how his wife and him used to love to ride.....i started thinking...." i have a 2003 Honda VTX 1800 that i really dont ride anymore"...... now the gears are turning.......
heres the dilemma..... i also would love to see that charger run....but it wont as long as he has it.....he loves to ride with his wife and has no bike that can do the job...........would it be taking advantage in considering a trade ....charger for the Honda VTX 1800 ????? or would you consider that....SAVING THE CHARGER ?
the car needs a good bit of work.....but i have the place,,,the skill,,,,the money,,,,and the KNOW HOW to get it back on the road.....he wont fix the car if he is in a bar 4 hours after work everyday . i would like your thoughts on this..
thanx THE DOG!:headbang:
