Thank you sir! Thats what i needed to know, If i do manage this ill have to have a 11 in flywheel, Brewers should have it and the clutch and P- plate, looking at those prices im glad i don't have to buy the B housing., Thanks....

If you look around, you might be able to find a new/used wheel. I have a billet that I picked up for 100 bucks but it's heavier than I need but I would like to hang onto it for my test stand start ups. I also have an aluminum wheel but it's for an 8 bolt crank which I probably won't use. Anyways, I've seen a couple sell on here that was reasonably priced...

Think hard on this one. Check other issues you might have. (Importantly header availability and starter issues. Like starter hitting the headers). The larger flywheel moves the starter out and headers for this combo go way down.

Thanks Cranky, ill see how this plays out, Rev does have some things for me to think about... When i got this car its the first things i bought for it, the 833 and B housing, shifter, only because a friend bought a 70 Challenger and it had these in it ( laying in it ) and i couldn't pass it up, that and most every car i ever had was a 4-speed and i do prefer them over auto... I have time so i can check into other options.. I have a 400 and 440 and both need rebuilt and im not sure where im headed on it except the 400 is the one ill use. its a 73 and its all there except the valley pan. i do thank you both.

I have a problem that the starter is grinding against the flywheel when I start it up - not all the time but annoying sound. Could also be too much timing and checking that out. ?
You can see the metal filings inside the inspection cover of the bellhousing.
I have a keisler bell housing and a 130 tooth flywheel, the keisler bell housing works with both 130 tooth and 143 tooth. Their is some slop in the starter bolt holes
Following your thread above and checking out brewers web they state they have a starter shim for proper dimension to ring gear engagement - do I need this ??
thanks for your help guys.

With slop in the starter holes id think that is your problem, The holes have been worn down from a loose starter? or are you talking up against the bell it isint tight? If thats the case a shim will tighten the starter to the bell, if its the holes in the starter itself, id put a new starter on it. Remember a shim will back the starter away from the flywheel, could make it worse, but if it isint tight up against it,its jumping around causing it to grind once in awhile..

Ron, thanks for the input.

Its a dual pattern bellhpousing for the starter to work on 130 tooth and 143 tooth flywheel. I believe the slop is in the bellhousing starter holes. Its a keisler bellhousing for the 5 speed, so I maybe off somewhere. Everything is new including the starter except the flywheel.
