Bench testing 65 coronet underdash harness!

Anyone have wisdom on why I am getting
sparks when I hook battery test leads to
my bulk head connector pos & neg posts
on bulkhead, am trying to see if main
harness will give me dash lites alson have
the key switch to turn it on with. Just get
a spark at bulkhead connection. Don't want to burn up anything. Thanks!

On that bulk head Red is + but black is not - Black is also + lead out to the altenator. I will be corrected if I am wrong. I don't belive there is a - going threw the bulk head.

kd is right. There is no ground wire in the bulkhead connector. You are probably hooking to the battery (red, comes from bat, goes to ammeter) and black (comes from alternator output, goes to ammeter

Can you show a photo or position number where you are hooking? What do ya have for a diagram?

Gents! Here is 3 photos of my harness
on bench. Thought I might be able to test
with jumpers from battery but not sure
where to ground.

You should be able to hook the ground to the metal cluster housing
