Best Oil Additive?

I'm experiencing some oil leaks mainly originating from my rear main seal. There are some other random drips in different areas as well. In addition, I've been told that when I let off the gas my Satellite blows a bit of smoke. This leads me to believe that my piston rings aren't in the best shape.

Basically, what I would prefer to try some oil additives before I tackle a job such as replacing the rear main seal. So what is the best oil additive in your professional Mopar opinion?

Amsoil 10-40 Signature has high zinc and an additive pacjage that massages seals. However, it won't fix leaks.
Rear main seal needs to be replaced by a Mopar guru who knows how. Puffs of smoke may be valve-guide seals. Mine showed a wiff while shifting and was cured by valve guide seal replacement.

puff of smoke on deceleration is usually valve stem seals. Not sure of an oil additive that really helps with leaks. On engines with varnish and sludge build up, I will use the Gunk 5-minute engine flush before changing the oil. This is a flush used before changing oil, so don't drive the vehicle until after changing the oil and filter. There are a bunch of oil additives on the market. Rislone has several engine oil additives that are reasonably priced? For engine break-in additive, or to boost ZDDP and anti-wear additives, I have been using the Redline Engine Break-In additive.
Bottle (16oz) contains:
33.8 grams total ZDDP (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate)
17,000 ppm, 7.8 grams Phosphorus (P)
20,500 ppm, 9.4 grams Zinc (Zn)
16.6 grams Sulphur (S)

In theory the thicker the oil the less it will flow past a leaky seal. The only real way to fix this is to replace the leaky seals and a rebuild if necessary. I have crutched a few engines in my day just to get them through another year or until I could do a rebuild. In the summer I would run straight 30W oil and a bottle of zinc additive. I assume you won't be driving this in the colder weather. I have also used Lucas oil additive to thicken the oil. Good luck.

An good additive that sealed up several leaks in my transmission is AT-205-Re-Seal. You can get it at Summit for $9.97. It's suppose to seal engine and power steering leaks as well. There are several videos on U-Tube about this product. If you're looking for an additive to fix your leak, I'd give it a try.

since Sonny started using AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil.....my RB Block, it sprung a slight leak..somewhere, :eusa_doh:I cannot fine where???

but that skinny fake oil works well, but- it can be leaky!
:icon_rolleyes:

You got that right Sonny. The syn oil has a thinner viscosity than dino oil so it will find places to escape if given a chance.

There is an oil additive called 'Restore' that is good to stop leaks and may help with the rings as well. It is fairly expensive per use, every oil change. I sold this at my NAPA store and its users swore by it.
