Best sealant for camshaft core plug ??

Another follow up, I took a look at a mill I'm building, the machine shop boys put it in flush. Which is what I would do, the step is in too far. You gain nothing going further inView attachment 1830376View attachment 1830377
Definitely not true in my case. If you look again at the removed core plug there was a good 1/4 of the plug which is the most wide that never was compressed.

As a follow up I called Permatex and spoke to their sealant tech guy. He said definitely use the old school hardening Permatex #1 paste in the tube.
i have used the #1 permatex sealant on core plugs for over 50 years. never a leak.
please use the correct plug driver to seat the plug. using the wrong driver accounts for a vast majority of core plug leaks because most times the plug is not driven in straight, causing some areas of the plug to not being able to use 100% of the sealing surface.
just what has worked for me, and repairing other's leaking newly installed plugs.
your mileage will vary.
