Thanks for the update.
If the 1/4 to 1/2" pedal push/hold won't let it start, it is one of two things (most likely). Fuel or spark. Do you have an insulated spacer under the carb? Is the fuel system routed so that it avoids heat zones?
Could the coil or ballast resistor be suffering from heat-induced intermittence?

I do not have a spacer under the carb. Coil and resistor are new. I realize new doesn't mean good though. I'll pick up a spacer and have the coil checked.
