Hey guys, I have a 62 Plymouth with a 727 and a 318. If I want to drop in a big block do I have to change the K member or just change out the motor mounts? Thanks...

on my 62 belvedere i needed the mounts from shumacher just check their web page it will explain everything i think there was a mid year k frame change hope this helps mopar joe jackson nj 08527

What state is your poly in? I changed the gearing in my pumpkin and was wishing hadn't already built the 440. poly with headers and a four barrel isn't a bad power plant. . . going to the big block got expensive fast.

Don't for get that BB radiator...and BB exhaust, also i would run the later 727 and not the cable shift trans,I'm using a Hurst shifter retro fitted to fit my factory center console not there yet or i would post pics..anyway good luck !!

If you want to stay with the pushbutton... I got lucky and someone here" memory fails but thanks to you!" set me up with a b/b bell and 727 out of a 65 Cornet and the drive shaft. schmuckers has a good guide to the upgrade http://www.engine-swaps.com/Pages/Instructions.html , but like I said wish i had done the gear changes in the pumpkin before i jumped both feet in the 440 conversion . read a lot , compartmentalize the project, and evaluate your own skill sets.
The 318 poly with a 4 barrel and dual exh. in good tune did the burnouts and move out i was looking for , not that i am unhappy with having a 440 in the 440, but it cost me lots of $ and work that could have been put else where .
things to consider with the 440 engine :
brake upgrades
suspension up grades
frame stiffeners
size of you budget

Most of the BB upgrades have been mentioned but you may need a fan shroud and different fan if you don't already have the correct set up. Also you will want to step up to the BB LARGER FUEL LINES if adequate fuel flow is desired. It is a big difference and the BB horsepower creates more heat for the small radiator support opening so don't skimp on the cooling components.
