Black friday is the annual first day of removing religion from the christmas season. I am disgusted by people's behavior during the holidays. I stay at home during these first days of the season because I dont respond very well to public rudeness.

It's pretty simple really. Over the years retailers have figured out that they can take advantage of people that feel like somebody else is getting something that they aren't. Call it greed, herd mentality, or whatever you want, it feeds the runaway consumerism we have in this country now. People camped out all night in the freezing *** cold to be first in line to buy crap they don't need and news crews sent out to glorify this kind of behavior. It's just plain stupidity and I refuse to participate. JMHFO.

I avoid stores in general, especially malls, nutcases, whinny brats, fat beatches
fighting over a sweater, game, doll or stuffed animal or some stupid item,
all made in China or elsewhere, that the masses have to have...LOL

we pretty much only buy for the young kids now &
then draw names for adults buy 1 gift for your draw,
with a $50 budget {nobody sticks to}, been doing for about 20 years now...

I refuse to commercialize Christmas, merely to help stimulate China's economy...LOL

Big name stores opening up at 6PM Thanksgiving day. Employing people making minium wage with no benefits no nothing,but have to work because the **** there selling which use to be made in this country by there elders are now made in third world countries.

I see Black Friday as a celebration of capitalism in it's purist form! The stores want to make money, the consumer wants to save money, and there's a strong motivation for both parties to bring their A game (Christmas). It's a confluence that's pretty much singular in society and I've always enjoyed participating in it until a few years ago.

I never minded getting up at 0400 to be in the stores at 0500. I didn't mind rushing against the clock to get from one store to another. And I didn't mind the crowds, the pushing, the shoving, or even the lines. It started at 0500, generally ended by 0900, and then you went and got breakfast before heading home and wrapping up all the gifts you just bought. It was a tradition my family enjoyed a lot.

Then the stores like Walmart started really cutting back on stock, so they might have 25 of the listed items on sales and once they were gone that was it. Then they started this crap with "well, these items go on sale at midnight, these others go on sale at 0200, these other things go on sale at 0500, and these doo-dads go on sale at 0700". First, I'm not going to stay at a store for seven frigging hours to catch sales just so they can keep the number of people down. Second, a big part of the fun of Black Friday was working out the strategy of who was going after what, where they needed to be, etc., and all that went away.

Walmart fixed the first problem with offering rain checks so everyone got the good deals, but there's still the problem of multiple sales going on throughout the night, and that's just not workable in my book, so we stay home now.

That's what you say now. It's a bit different when you're on a tight budget and buying for kids. Nowadays I agree with you because my kids are all working and get whatever they need when they need it.

Don't worry, it's a racist name, like the Redskins, and soon Congress will pass a law that it cant be called black Friday because the people in Ferguson don't like it and will riot some more........lol!!!

The Wal-Mart in Ferguson closed, so they moved employees to other stores. They brought the attitude with them. My mother was afraid & left the store . I believe this was the day before Thanksgiving.
