Hi - I have a '69 GTX with A/C - I tried to remove blower motor from the engine side. I removed the three 7/16 nuts and discovered the fan is larger than the motor housing.

There is a "ring" of sorts around the blower motor that the bolts holding blower motor - it has 3 small 1/4" screws around the side - I thought by removing them that the ring would come off, allowing me to pull the motor and fan thru the engine bay side, and then I could remove the fan from the motor, but the dang ring doesn't want to come off - I don't want to destroy it - can someone confirm I am barking up the right tree, or is there something I am missing???? I thank you in advance...

Removing the 3 small sheet metal screws from the outer housing is the correct method. Its still a SOB to get off. Gentle but forceful prying around the outer edge to firewall area will finally break it loose. Work on it a bit, take a break and come back and try again.

Sounds like the same setup as my 66. Once the ring comes off the motor will come out. I ended up replacing the blower motor on mine.
