If your looking for an adjustable voltage regulator, the Transpo C8313 is a heavy duty regulator that can be adjusted for different voltage outputs from the alternator.
I am using one on the '71 Charger with a trunk mounted battery, and a Denso 136 Amp alternator from a Ram Truck. The regulator is a direct plug-in, but you need to adjust it before mounting it, meaning you need to have a jumper wire from the case to the ground while adjusting the regulator for the voltage you want at the battery (run engine on high RPM to make sure the alternator is producing more power than the accessories consume.)
The 136 Amp alternator is not going to fit in the stock location. It is too thick. I mounted the alternator up between the dist and valve cover where an A/C unit normally is. There are better fitting alternators, I just used this one because I already had it.
