Boyd Coddington, Scott Drake, or Wheel Vintiques Magnum 500 Wheels

Recently bought a new set of Wheel Vintiques 15X8 Magnum 500 wheels. One arrived damaged with a flat spot on the rim and both had a couple of small pits in the chrome already. Returned both for a refund. I had thought Wheel Vintiques was the best brand but now wonder if that was a mistake. Anybody have recent experience with some of the other brands. I know Coker Tire owns Wheel Vintiques and what used to be Specialty Wheel. Don't know anything about Boyd Coddington or Scott Drake

What about Boyd Coddington? I read that Scott Drake wheels are made in China. Most everything you buy is from China but I'd like to buy my wheels in the USA.

I put Wheel Vintiques on my 70 RR back in 1995. 14x6 in front and 14x8 in rear. All BF Goodrich tires. Biggest issue I have the entire time was the rear wheels shake at speeds over 50 mph. In’s because they’re a fabricated wheel, not machined. Even doing the “lug centric balance” like the manufacturer suggested did help some but still have it.
I am now working on upgrading to 15” due to it’s almost impossible to find 14” tires to fit these rims. I probably will still go with the chrome fabricated magnums just because I like the look of chrome more than polished aluminum. Kinda leaning toward Boyd Coddington wheels. Don’t know who is their supplier.

Coddington wheels are sourced from PRC...just got a set. Seem better than the WV finish wise (somehow) I had but, is what it is

I'm in the market for magnum 500s too. Just called wheel vintiques to see if they could tell me if they're still made in the usa and if they have any in stock. They're out of stock at summit. Tried the technical extension and the phone system just puts you in a loop back to the main menu. Hung up and tried again, this time the sales extension. Waited on hold and after about 5 minutes the system hung up on me. 3 calls and never able to get a person. That's a red flag for me. Customer service sucks *** at these companies anymore. This plus reading bad reviews may have made my decision to look elsewhere. I want to buy USA but looks like i'm gonna have to resort to putting rice burner wheels on my American Made car. Dammit

Just called Scott Drake (a holley company) and the sales staff said their magnum 500's are made in the USA. Might give them a go instead of wheel vintiques.

Having been a professional Welder for many years , decades ! And a fabricator, with a nation wide Local Union 798 , out of Tulsa ,OK . , that a multitude of Hands could have fit those wheels up , precisely! An then welded them up , Correctly!

yeah, I was hoping to buy a pair of 15x10 5x4.5 5.5BS Rallyes and they don't make them anymore. I called them and they pointed me to an interested parties link on their main web page to make a request which I did, until then it's 15x8 all around. I closely inspected all four wheels, rings & center caps and was happy with the quality. Interesting thing, all the boxes had been opened for what I'd bet was a pre-ship inspection so it seems like they're trying to catch flaws beforehand.
