I have a 1970 Satellite with power drum brakes. I want to remove the power booster. Napa sells an inexpensive master cylinder that is a direct replacement for the manual drum brake system. My question is - what else needs to be done to convert the system to manual brakes? Is the rod from the pedal different? Are there any other changes required other than replacing the master cylinder?

Thanks in advance for the help!

i dont think their is any difference in the rod - but you do need a manul adapter plate to run manual brakes in place of your booster

I think the pedal is different to give you more leverage, and I'm pretty sure the wheel cylinders are a different size

I hope you have a really strong right leg if all you do is remove the booster !!

Just turn the motor off while driving down a deserted road, pump the brakes to get rid of the residual vaccum and then try to stop it.
