Got a 64 Fury. I need to get the drums off. I backed off the adjustments and dont want to force them off . Any help? I only tried the rears so far. Also only has a single master . Any thoughts on a double ? Or even a brake booster???

Definitely need a dual master cylinder. Cheap way is find a mid 80's Fury or similar at a junk yard. They're pretty cheap that way, but any 1967 or newer will work. My drums came off my 64 with a couple taps of a hammer after the adjusters were backed off.

Yep, sorry for the delay. As was posted, they're part of the drum. I've often found a failure on my part to hold my head just right or utter the proper cuss word has kept me from succeeding at removing such parts. :)

%$#@#$$%^&^%$@##%% Drums!
If u dont hear back in the next day it means I sold the car and bought a FORD. No just kiddin . it means I KILLED MY SELF!!!

Got it!! Thank God. All in all was not so bad . Once I put the right puller on . I took it slow. And POP!! .
Thanx guys.

Pass side came off. Drivers still giving me some trouble. Gave up last night. I'll try again on Sat.
I'm afraid of smashing the axel threads. I'm going to get a tap & DIE ( or tap & killing me) set today just in case.

Any thoughts???

Pain

Yea...........those old tapered axles are a major pain in the butt. Years ago I had the same issue on mine and yes the drivers side would not come off. I used an entire can of liquid wrench, banged on the drum nose with a sledge hammer and a heated the axle with a torch and "POP" it finally came off. If not for that I would've torched the entire thing off and started over again with the new late style axles. I feel your PAIN!! :icon_hang:
