broke throttle pressure shaft?

I recenlty installed a Hurst shifter in my 72 Satellite a couple of weeks ago and I had to remove the throttle lever in order to change the shift select lever and thought that my kickdown was just out of adjustment. I remember when prying the lever off the shaft that the shaft moved up wtf? I'm thinking now something might have broke in the valve body because no matter how I adjust the kickdown linkage nothing changes. Has this happened to anybody else on this forum? Any help anybody has is appreciated I want to fix this problem b4 my tranny is toast.

Yea somethings broken for sure. I read another forum that there's a arm that's welded on the bottom of the shaft in the valve body that can break off. Found a couple of rebuilt valve bodies on ebay I'm going to check out.

Have a look first before buying another valve body. The arm that is welded to the bottom of the shaft doesn't go into the valve body, it stays in the case and fits into a slot in the plunger that IS in the valve body. The plunger is called a throttle or kickdown valve, the "shaft" is called throttle lever cam and may be the broken part not the valve body.

Thanks Coronet that makes sense I checked the throttle lever out again last night and I can move it effortlessly in any position so something definetly broke inside. If the lever cam is busted do you know where I find a replacement? Thanks again.

No I don't, I would call a local trans shop, a good time to replace that seal although a little tough while in the car.

thanks I'll check around. doesn't look like it will be too hard to do but I might just take it into a trans shop to save myself the trans fluid mess.

Problem solved found a rebuilt valve body on ebay with a shift kit and just swapped them out car shifts great again.
