I recently installed the column on my '66 Coronet. Problem is that I over-tightened one of the two nuts that hold the column to the dash and snapped the bolt off. I can not get to the damn bolt to either back it out, or run it on through to pull it out the other end. If I can grab the bolt from the top of the area where it is, I know I can get that damn thing out and install a new one. I'm probably making this far harder than it should be, because I'm pissed at myself for doing it in the first place. Ideas?

Are you able to center-punch the broken bolt, then drill it big enough to get an easy-out in there? You should be able to buy the thread removal easy-outs at a local tool store. Even Drilling the hole and driving another screw in the hole can help....do it all the time on frozen/rusty bolts. Use plenty of lube - CRC or WD-40 etc.

A lot of times when drilling a thru bolt, the bit will grab and screw the bolt right on through the hole!

It is not a bolt. It is a stud. You should be able to remove it with an easy-out like some have said here. Otherwise drill it out and re-tap it.

Drill it out and easy out it. I have a stud if needed.

Yeah, stud is what I meant to say. And I would be interested in that spare stud!!!
