rebuilding my 67 coronet .. trying to make a good street car .. maybe about 450-500hp anyone get there car there and what did you use?

I'm also re-building mines. I have a thread on it. Here's a list with part numbers that I'm getting, it gets a little over 500hp. Well that's what I was told at least.

Hope this helps

I just finished my 383 build and made 470+ hp with 531 ft/lbs torque. Although I went with a 450 stroker type build. I'm sure I could of made more power but was limited in my intake due to having to maintain proper height for the air grabber system.

Thanks for the input I've been reading its pretty easy for 383 also heard hughes whiplash can is an awesome componet

Do you want 450 or 500 horsepower? Theres kind of a fine line that you cross for the 500 hp effort, especially with a 383.

Easiest, cheapest, more streetable way would be to stroke it to a 431 or a 489, add aluminum heads, headers, good intake, and cam.

If you want to keep it a 383 I'd shoot for 450 hp. Eddy RPM, 440Source Stealth, or the new Trick Flow heads with a cam about 235 degrees of duration @ .050 should get you there with 1 3/4 headers and a good intake like the Eddy RPM. 750 Holley carb will work nice with it. Be careful with piston selection though, a 383 can easily end up with low compression if you aren't careful.

thanks for the input

my starting hp is 225 to the wheels ... only could rev till 4700 then lost all power so i think a valve floated

I'm just hoping 400-house on 30-over 383 rebuild just completed, .484-lift comp-cam with TRW pistons and reworked 906 heads with new everything and new Eldebrock air-gap intake and rebuild 750 Holley and new MSD read-to-run distributor and coil

They say that power is easy to make from what im reading ..not sure if I'm going to bore or stroke it yet still up in the air for a few things

BORE IT AND STROKE IT !!! MORE CUI=MORE HP THE EASY WAY !! THEN YOUR OPTIONS ON CAM SELECTION OPEN WAY UP !!!:icon_super:
