I'm trying to redo the bulkhead connector on my 68 Super Bee. The old connector had a solid ,thin wire that was about 30awg. It fell off and I can't seem to find what this was for. Can anybody help me on this ?

30 AWG??? 10, 12, 14, and 16 AWG are the commonly used wire sizes on cars. A pic would help.

Yeah x2 3o awg no way was that oem. there was a 18-16 awg wire that goes to the brake valve for a warning light. but nothing as small as 30 awg.

Yes, it's not 30 ga. What color is the insulation? And when you say 'solid', do you mean a solid conductor wire (vs. stranded)? A real solid wire would not be stock.

Here is a picture with a quarter for reference. A thin solid wire ( not standed ) with red insulation. The M&H website ( the people who make wire harnesses for Year One ) shows a wire harness with a thin wire, but I can't tell where it goes.

Yes, I can't imagine that being original either; solid wire will anneal and break under normal car vibrations. That seriously looks just like wire from an old 4 wire telco telco! Maybe someone used it for a tach hookup or something.....

DO you have a link to the M&H diagram(s)?

I went back to the website and it's not the one I was thinking of. There is a restoration service on Ebay that shows a wire harness with a wire that is not taped in, but after looking closer at the picture it's bigger than the one I have. Thanks for the reply
