Bumper hardware torque

I had my bumpers and guards rechromed.
What should the chrome bolts be tightened to? 5lbs?
Also the bumper guards to bumper?

Lastly the bumper mounts to rear of car, and bumper guards to lower mount.

Also would the fronts also be the same.
I can’t find the information anywhere.

There's probably no information because it's irrelevant.
Just tighten them up enough so they don't come loose. You should be able to feel it. It's definitely not 5 lbs/ft, a child could do that. Probably around 30-40lbs/ft at a guess, but could be more. I've never put a torque wrench on something like that.
 
I tighten bumper bolts to the point that the lock washer has just flattened out and no more. My plater lectured me on that although I really didn’t need to be told.
 
I went to the chrome shop, and had him tighten the brackets.
He warned me, not to overdo it, or they’ll dimple the bumper.
I'm not knocking you as everyone has different wrenching abilities but if you're going to own an old car it would pay to start doing stuff yourself - you'll save a heap of money and probably have fun along the way. With practice you'll know when something is tight, when something is about to strip the thread, dimple the metal etc.
 
This is the only thing, I did tighten them, I just had him recheck them when I had him look at the chrome. I’ve done everything on the car. This was just something I hadn’t done, since the 1980’s. He had made me second guess myself. I looked on here and surprised it wasn’t brought up. Hopefully this post reaches someone that is in need of the same info.
 
Did you use the original screws with the stainless steel cap?

Could you share pictures of the bumpers? I wonder how they look like.

My experience with tightening bumper bolts. If they were done by a reputable chrome shop you can tighten them. If done by the Bumper Boys finger tight only... Back in the 90's I tightened one of their bumpers nothing crazy 3/8 ratchet watched the lock washer collapse and it cracked the chrome around the bolts. I thought it was a hair and sliced my finger right open then I looked and every bolt did it. I was able to literally peel the chrome off. They originally told me a I tightened them too tight. Then when I told him I could peel the chrome right off he said it must have had a compound residue on it before chroming. They replaced it but never used them again. I having been using Tri City with-out issues...

3 pieces 17.99 is crazy. I bought stainless lock steel and polished them. I think you saw it on instagram. It is not original, but lasts longer than the original. Maybe interesting for anyone here.

Yes. That is not your fault. If the plated layer of metal has no adhesion, the preparation and/or degreasing was not successful. That could happen with any metal you plate. In chrome, it also could be that it became passive while plating and did not get any adhesion. You also always see that parts that getting chrome plated have a firm contact. That is because if you plated chrome and turn off the current, the surface is passive immediately. If you try to plate chrome on chrome, it does not work. So I guess they messed up while chrome plating OR the nickel part was too long in the air what also make nickel become passive real quick
