Butyl tape or ureathane?

I done automotive glass in the late 70s early 80s when urethane was started being used. It could get messy if you were not careful. The @ 24 hour wait for it to cure made people mad. Butyl is easier for me. Stick it in , push it in to seal, done and your trim fits to the glass. Sales reps would tell you that it made the car stronger because the glass would be part of the structure. Ya, I want my life to be dependant on something I can break with a stone. Windshield might be a little different being laminated will stay together. Tempered is strong but want stay together.

Have you seen how much laminate is being used in newer side glass? My buddy owns a glass business....talk about expensive.

Any volunteers to come remove my leaky front and rear windows from my 67 charger and put them back in with new seals and be leak free??? Another headache of a 47 year old car that sat for 24 years....

If they been leaking....gotta wonder how much rust in the channels.

Well Im lucky because it sat inside for 24 years and it sits inside for me. I found out the leak when I drove it in the rain.

California desert car i got lucky not a spec or rust anywhere not even under the vinyl top.

Lots of dust still pops up here and there tho

Very nice. Leaky/no-rusted cars are few and far between. I've had some pretty rusty s.w. cars from sitting out too long.

First gen Charger rear glass IS A PITA. I was able to catch the rust.

But back to on topic.
I have do the back glass on a 69 RR. I'm looking forward to that.
This thread will help.
If I used poly it would glue the glass in.
Is there other way other than saw the glass back out with a wire blade if you ever wanted to remove it?
Would there be another way?
It sounds like setting with butyl and using a bead of poly around the edge afterwards might be a good compromise.

You can carefully remove the window with a "cold knife' if you're feeling lucky.

that's how I got the windshields out of my 67. Cold.
