You wont be Abel to to get a duplicate plate from DMV, but there are DMV approved companies that can restore your old plates and also make you a new front plate !

Michigan started doing this a while back;allowing use of vintage plates on older cars. Cool idea. For '63 and '64 owners here,you need a 1962 plate and a "1963" or 1964" tab to attach to the upper right corner. I've got a couple of great tabs;looking for a unique '62 plate.

Ca DMV is the worst, no service, long lines and one of the worst bureaucracy this state has (and thats saying a lot). I always use a private registration service and have not been at DMV for years....
