440 motor - has a mild cam but don’t have specs on motor when I bought it. 750 eddy carb, run a mix of 110 and 92 octane gas, just put in new plugs, has old headers (that has the annoying tick tick leak ha).

Motor temp is fine - (it’s been almost 90) - but after driving a little while I just feel like a I lose a little acceleration response - and it doesn’t sound quite like it does when it is colder.

I’ve pondered heat soak with the eddy carb and getting a spacer, wrapping fuel lines, etc - but she shuts off and starts even when hot so not sure.....

So am I crazy? Am I just am sensing a slight hesitation when hot and doesn’t sound quite as raspy when I give it gas......or is it just me? This sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Maybe you need bigger jets. When the motor is cold, the choke is partially on, and runs a little richer. After warming up and the choke is open, maybe running a little lean.

Try two compression tests. One cold, then get your gloves and do one hot.

I did lean out the mixture screws recently as it was running rich - then adjusted the idle. So maybe I’ll give the mixture screws a quarter/half turn, adjust idle, and see from there.

Any chance you have access to A/F meter? Takes the guess work out...

The biggest thing you are noticing is likely hotter air in the engine compartment.
Cold air is a dense charge = bigger boom
A carb does not deal well with big variations in inlet temperature.
I put on a ram airbox years ago, but the 4" air filter would be too tall for a 440.
