Caltrac install question

So you finally decided to come around and see whats going on, looking good!!!

Well I can admit when i make mistakes. So learn from mine.

1) Do NOT use S/S front spring hangers. Go back to the stock front hangers. Thankfully I didnt throw them away. The stock hangers are 1" shorter than the S/S. You will need that inch (as 5.7 would say) to bring the rearend forward with the Caltracs that are sent.
2) Ensure that you check the front spring length from the front eye to the centering bolt. Ahem. Especially on both sides. Thats my mistake. When you work on one side it becomes the opposite on the other. If I would have started on the passenger side first then to the drivers I would have realized that the passengers was the correct distance of 21" and not assume that I did the same for the drivers. It was at 22".
So once I installed the stock hangers and moved the drivers to the proper 21" like the passengers it was all good. I will contact Caltracs to remind guys to use stock hangers only and that I screwed up. My mistake not theirs.
So now we see the tire nicely centred in the wheelwell. :sideways tongue:

this is an area i have to get into on my car also. really glad to hear caltrac was good to deal with. i don't know where the problem originates but i don't like the the ride, way too choppy for my likeing. springs were reasonably new hemi muti-leaf, new moser dana 60 and 9 way adjust shocks.
glad it worked out for you.

Very true. I stood on the back of the car and it was stiff. I know I have to give up something to get something in return. She will be a part boulevard cruiser and part strip. But I know now, once setup, I will hook up good! The 26" Goodyears will have to go and in its place some slicks.
Now im almost ready to tackle the wiring. All new harness and fusebox. This will take a bit.
