Caltracs with Super stock springs

I thought I was getting the right stuff, according to Mancini it was supposed to work. They sold it to me as a package, front shocks, rear shocks, super stocks and caltracs.

Mancini is a good vendor but I would take the word of a guy sitting behind a desk giving advice unless he’s the one who builds the system.

Well, I spoke with Calvert today and they said caltracs and super stocks are ok together. Just band the back of the springs together also, and set the caltracs up like normal. This is right from the horse's mouth, so all is good with super stocks and caltracs says Calvert. Thanks for everyone's input on this question. Mark

Good luck! Been there, tried it.

The pin hasn't been moved, the front segment is shorter. 20 vs 22.

I'm not at all saying to try to run them with SS springs, the OP asked if they would fit?(I guess that't the way I interpreted it)I am saying the distance from the spring center pin to the front spring eye is shorter(in effect, moved forward) making the distance a couple inches shorter and there is no way the heim joints in the Caltrac bar would screw in far enough to even work. I am not even mentioning the fact that they won't work well with SS anyways.

Given the different information everyone is giving I went ahead and started a thread on Classracer.com
It’s under the Stock/Superstock forum. Best to get info from there in that those guys play hardball.

Cal tracs with either split mono leafs or Superstock, the harder you hit the rear tire the more the diff is going to separate from the body and that is controlled by having good shocks, front and rear.

Thanks for insulting everyone that replied here. Especially the ones who have PROVEN results and explained EXACTLY what happened in the same situation.

Way to be a jackhole!

Didn’t intend to insult the group but in your case the insult was well intentioned. Maybe you shouldn’t be so sensitive.

I don't respect your opinion so I'll probably post on another board to see if I can get a better response.

See how that works?

thats good to hear,,,since thats whats on my car,,its been a while but i seem to remember when i ordered them i had to tell them what lenght my front segment was and axle tube size, springs, etc..when i had it out last year it was pulling to the left under acceleration, tite'n the left bar and went straight and true...and now with sliders.

I recall when ordering my cal tracs and split mono leafs about 5 years ago that the front leaf length could be 2 different lengths. Mine were the 20" on my Plymouth, I can't recall if the Dodges were 22" or not. In any event, you spank those rear tires hard with some good power and both the split mono leafs and the SS springs are both going to curl up. Just like the spring perches will curl up if they're not boxed...
It's takes good shocks to hold things and get you out. Front shock rebound plays a very big part in the set up too. I just watched a short vid of one of my launches last night where the front tires come off, they come down, the rear tires came off and back down, then the front tires came back off.. Never a clue what was gonna happen when letting the button go.. And it was the guys right here in this site that helped me through all that.

My car is a stock 413 MW and maybe makes 420hp. 62 Dart @ 3600#, stick. Runs high 12's.
I leave the line at 6200 on the limiter and side step the clutch. Any less launch rpm and it bogs the motor off the launch on a well prepped track. It dead hooks, leaves slightly to the right, but bucks 2 or 3 times before settling in. The pinion snubber is banging off the floor. I was hoping that adding the caltracs it would help steady the pinion and stop the violent wrap/ unwrap of the springs.

The cal tracs will do the job. Thats a pretty hard launch. You do have your spring perches boxes already? They flatten out easier than a guy thinks.

Yes, spring perches are boxed, reinforced front spring hangers also.

They just allowed, this year, 2 step for stick cars so I'll try a lower launch when/if the tracks open

You need to change the spring package, something like the XHD spring set on your 20" front segment, & 3 way shocks may work fine, & dump the snubber.

Do you have a pic of ‘spring perch boxed’?
