Hi guys,

Going back to the track with this street 71 Barracuda 528, looking for some advice on the Caltrac adjustment, car went 10.62 @ 130mph with close to 2.0 60', if you watch the video you can here the wheelspin and me getting off then back on the gas.
Was on 255/60/15 ET Street Mickey's, this time I have squeezed some ET 275's on. With the 130mph I should be around 10.3's ??
Any tip's to get me out of the hole quicker welcome, I will only get one chance at this because over here in Australia you can only run to 11.00 without a cage and harness so I was planning a few half tracks then if all is good go out the back door.

Thanks https://youtu.be/cb9FbDUWBLQ

You better get slicks and a 4-link or ladder bars with that 60 ft. time. My 60 ft. times are almost half a second better with a 118 trap speed.

Do you have their springs & bars?? What shocks are you using?

I think the springs are stock #3400044 (car sits low see pic) and the shocks are Competition Eng but not sure of the numbers with the Caltrac bars.

Bobtile, as I say the car is for street so do not want to 4 link or ladder bar, going to the track April 19 (Western Australia)

I can tell you Cal Tracks and drag radials will work with and auto trans. In most cases they'l be quicker than slicks. The key is loose adjustment on the front shock with plenty of travel. They also require more specialized adjustment of the rear shock. Many times a standard adjustable rear shock will not work. A radial needs to be hit hard initially and then the rebound (shock extension speed) has to slow down and not crush the tire. This may require a custom double adjustable shock. Even though Calvert tells you to loosen the rebound (extension) on the rear shock yours appears to be to loose to start with. The tire hits , the front end starts to lift, then it spins and drops. I'd tighten the rear shocks. We run about 18psi. With Rancho single adjustable we ran in the 1.6 60 ft. With Afco double adjustables modified by Mark Menscer it runs consistent 1.4 60 ft. call Mark

You must have 6" of front end travel for the caltracs to work properly.
Put a floor jack under your k-member.
Measure how for the lip of the front fender is off the ground.
Jack up your car until the front tire lifts off the ground.
There is your front end travel.
Exaravmple:
1st measurement is 32"
2nd measurement (jacked up until tire lifts off the ground) is 35"
You only got 3" of travel.
Get 90/10 shocks and loosen your torsion bars (sag) until you get the max lift travel.
THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM CAL TRAC TECH DEPARTMENT WHEN I ASKED ABOUT SETUP.

Al,
definitely will need a way better rear shock. I run the Rancho 9 ways on my Satellite with Caltracs and XHD mopar leaf springs . I have to run the shock at #8 or #9(tightest) to control the separation and unloading the rear tyres - I run the Hoosier radial 275 @ 19psi. My 60' is 1.53-54 normally with a best of 1.50 footbraking and leaving at about 2500 . I do have QA1 single adjustable fronts set to full loose on the front .Oh yeah I also clamped (2) the front half of the springs and removed the rear most spring clamp , did this before fitting the Caltracs and left it that way .
I did call Calverts for setting I think it was 1/4 or 1/2 turn preload with me in the car at race weight , car leaves straight so have not touched it since .

I can often get the Rancho's local here in Sydney
