Can you change from 3" drums to 2.5" On a 8 3/4?

I have a 8 3/4 out of a 1973 Chrysler imperial I'm rebuilding to put into my charger. It currently has 3" brakes and I'm curious to see if you can change it over to 2.5" with relative ease. Its hard to find parts for the 3" brakes I'm realizing finding out that local parts stores can't even get most of them and the only set of drums I found were 200 a piece. I thought I heard you can change them over by getting new backing plates? Any info would help. That or if anyone wants to donate some 3" drums :sideways tongue:

3" rear drums?? Must be an early 70's big car thing. Normally you can swap over if you get all the hardware. You may also need the parking brake cables from the 2.5" car. I have done a few big drum brake upgrades on different cars and the job was never too difficult.
