Hi, I've got a question for anyone that might know. I have a few thermoquad carbs that range from 800cfm to 900cfm and I'm looking at running an E85 setup with my 489 stroker with its high compression (12:1) and was wondering if its possible to make a thermoquad compatible to run with E85?

Thanks, Sander

Its possible, I'm sure. But is it worth the effort? You can get Holley metering blocks that are made for E 85. And you also need to jet larger to run E 85. I went from 80s to 88s in my Holley 850 dbl pumper carb. And I am running 25% mix of E 85, along with 37% of 91 premium, and 37% of 100 Sunoco race gas.

And this works fine at 13 to 1 C/Ratio. I use 3 gallons 91 premium, 2 gallons E 85, and 3 gallons of 100 Race gas. Comes out to 97.8 octane. Workin good in the 451.

Averages out to about 3.87 a gallon. Thats with $7 a gallon for the race gas, and $2 per gallon for the premium and E 85.

thanks for the input, but looks like we're going with an efi system on e85 now
