Are there any numbers/markings on the 4spd housing that match it to the vin on a 65 Belvedere II? It is the correct ball and trunion style 4spd but curious if there's a way to validate that it's the original one that came with the car. Are there any other components that might while I'm asking?

No, there is no V.I.N. on the trans or engine in 1965 that will tie it to the car with regards to originality.

The closest you can get is date code correct - which is still open to interpretation.

I would bet it has the original trans in it. They are very stout. If it had ever been needing replacement, I think they would have went back with a slip yoke trans.
Here is a pic of my 65 with the new wheels and exhaust.

cwmoss, that car is beautiful, wheels look awesome on it. I've been collecting parts (bumper, bench seats, electrical) and saving money to dive into mine. Body is pretty solid with just a few small patch panels needed, needs interior from scratch, paint looks good from a short distance, and electrical is a nightmare.

Your car looks nice also. I will be doing some rewiring myself. Last night we went out to eat and on the way home, the lights just went out, then came back on. This happened several times. Then it was ok. My friend says I probably need a new headlight switch. My drivers quarter was dented in at some point and whoever fixd it, did an ok job, but there is a wave in it and I don't like looking out my side rearview mirror and seeing it. If it was on the passenger side it wouldn't bug me so much.
