So I bought my first car about 2 year back and I can't seem to find any information about it. The car is a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring with a 360ci 4bbl. I've decoded the VIN number and it says the car came with a 318ci and was assembled in Windsor, Ontario. I bought the car for only $300 from a mechanic shop because the owner didn't pay the price for the mechanic work and abandoned it there in 1999 and eventually the carb was stolen off of it. The car is now running after putting a new carb and distributer on it. The engine is a orange 360ci with a edelbrock intake and carb from a 1988 vehicle. The total so far to get it driveable cost just under $1000 for the car, new carb, distributor and exhaust. I hope thats enough info to help you help me. I just would like to know if I got a steal of a deal and possibly how rare if rare at all a canadian 72 satellite sebring is and any information on a orange 1988 360 4bbl engine because from what I know in 1988 all small block Mopar engines were blue except police and racing engine. The car seems like it was previously in the process of performance upgrades because when I bought it the car came with a leaf spring lift kit on it, 9 inch gear markings on the axle and oil pressure, temperature and battery gauges installed under the dash.

Ps. If you could also help me with a idleing problem it would help ALOT too because I have a 600cfm edelbrock carb that I have no idea how to set properly for the engine. I believe its the 2 front screws that is the problem but I dont know how to set it properly. Other small problems are the reverse lights, cigar lighter, licence plate and courtesy light don't turn on at all :(

Thanks

Yes, it sounds like a really good deal for a running car. I don't think they are terribly rare, but it is a very desirable year for them. Show us some photos of it when you get a chance.

My quick tip is,not running, turn idle screws in until they seat, count the number of turns, not too tight just two fingers on the scredriver.Back them out to original position and start car.Best to set ignition timing first but go ahead and turn one in half turn and listen for r.p.m. change,in is leaner out is richer.Do the same to the other until you get a good idle, as the idle improves you may have to back out the throttle lever screw, then do the two mixture screws again.Useing a vacum gauge is best, other things like distributor vacum, whether you have it connected to full vacum or carb ported vacum can also effect idle quality.Give it a try don't be shy, it's just a big lawnmower engine.

not that rare theres 4 in my area alone (same and different engines) but id say it was a smokin deal
