Does any body have anything good to say about any of these companies. I have had a project car bought for almost a month and am having a very frustrating experience trying to get it moved from California to Wisconsin. Lies, promises, deadlines come and go, more lies and promises and then more money. All I have dealt with seem to be scam artists, liars, and cheats. Now I hear that if I can get my car on a truck, sometimes the driver will be told that he is due a certain amount of money upon delivery. This amount will be higher than what the broker told me. If I don't pay the driver the inflated price they will just impound the car. None of these companies are required to be affiliated with the BBB. So what is a guy to do?

DAS gave me good service. New Challenger. PA to CA. Enclosed. No damage or problems. Reasonable cost. This in 2009.

I have delt with the brokers with much frustration. It's almost like they'll commit to the job at a low ball price and then they themselves can't find a trucker to take the shipment for the price quoted. I have a guy that I can refer you to if you haven't already commited to someone, pm me.

whatever the price the broker quoted you is the price you pay.the driver DOES NOT get paid extra from you.were you told the car would be pick up at a certain date/time.If so,then they have the responsibility to honor their side of the agreement. How long have you been having this problem? You might have to have a lawyer involved to let the transport company know that you will file a claim against them for breach of contract to transport your car.Have you tried contacting the transport company and getting to the root of the problem. In the trucking business the broker is just someone who sits back and charges money for doing very little work. IMO.

I learned that lesson many many years ago when I first stated out in the trucking business!DON"T use a broker! Go directly to a transport co.Plenty of reputable ones out there,Might cost you more but they will get the job done!

Had a lot of cars moved. The best company is Reliable Auto Shippers. They have headquarter's from East to West Coast's. The ship Enclosed directly to you, Insured, Bonded and most important, there is NO Broker's. Broker's are FOS and liar's. The small shipper Guy's on this site and other's can not compete with a major companies price's and Insurance. I hope this help's.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune..I agree with moparsteve, cut out the fat and just go right to the source. Obviously a bit late for that. Myself, I would have my lawyer making some phone calls. Folks seem to squirm when litigations are all of a sudden on the table.

GT Motorsports

I did use a broker to get my GTX from Texas to Calif. It cost about $1400 and it was enclosed.

If I was to do it again, I would go directly to Gran Turismo Motorsports. They are a small company, based in Florida. When I called to get an update, the owner answered the phone. I think they have 6 big rig trucks.

There were issues with the broker and the way they handled a truck that broke down. What should have taken a week, wound up being almost 3 weeks.

Once GT got involved, there was regular contact from the driver, and all that was required on delivery was a signature on the inspection report.

BTW, the hauler also had a 599 Ferrari (new), a brand new Bentley and a hot rod Mustang..

I've used Intercity a few times with no problems whatsoever.

I use my own truck & trailer mostly, but I have been known to rent a truck & trailer 1 way also, I have used Reliable Auto Carriers/Shippers 1 time to my door, from Indy to Concord Ca. many years ago now, the car was tied down nicely/correctly & they covered the seats, floor & plastic over the body to keep it clean, which was kind of ironic it was a project car, but they still took care of it like it was a million dollar car...

I used Reliable a few times and was always happy with their service. Also, it's been a few years since I talked to him, but give Roger a call at ModTop Transport

He's a Mopar guy and top notch to deal with.

This is exactly what is happening. Yesterday I booked with one of the more expensive outfits. They told me it would be picked up within 2 days. If I am still getting the runaround after tomorrow I will take you up on your offer Matt. They are all telling me I have 3 things going against me. #1 it is a non operable car, #2 spring came early and all the snow bunnies are wanting their cars shipped to the midwest (and are paying the drivers a premium to be first, and #3 none of the truckers want to end up with a empty tralier in NW WI because there is nothing for them to haul out of here. This last one I am having a hard time believing as I am only 1.5 hours east of the Twin Cities.

I use transports lots in the course of business. And I agree DONT USE BROKERS deal direct and spend an extra nickel if you have too. There's lots of reputable guys out there! BTW nobody likes deadhead...

I'm lining up a shipper right now, debating between Reliable and the broker network. From Ohio to Colorado.

Have been getting broker quotes from $800 - $850, most all of them. One of them actually explained the entire process to me, how they try to grab you at a low price, then see what drivers are available near the date you need them to pickup, then the price will fluctuate (usually UP). He gave a solid max price of $850. Montway and GreatAmerican both quoted $950. One broker said $650, but I'm wary to trust that after hearing how it works. I just left a voicemail with Roger at Modtop.

I also got the same thing about all the "Snowbirds" shipping their cars back up North, basically using up all the trucks needed all over the eastern half of the U.S. Interesting...

All these quotes are open-carrier. I'm shopping online for a weatherproof car cover. Looks about $250 for a good one that's vehicle-specific, ouch.

^^^^^^ Word of advice don't ship on an open carrier with a cover on it, it won't turn out well. No I didn't do it.

Why? Does the wind make it scratch the clearcoat/paint? Or are you saying don't ever transport open-trailer at all, and always spend the extra $500 for enclosed?

Nevermind on the car cover question. Apparently the law is you can't even have a cover on a car on an open trailer, unless you're a dealer. I guess DOT doesn't trust anyone to actually put one on correctly and tight, but they do give dealers an exception. Chime up if you know anything else about this "law".

Good luck with getting the car hauled. The biggest problem I had was it was a non running car. It is to much of a hassle for the drivers and they don't care to deal with it. I ended up finding a older gentleman with a Dodge diesel and a 42' trailer to move mine. I am pretty sure that every company you mentioned is a broker. Ask them how many trucks they actually own.
