Carb cleaning

Anyone out there using a Sonic machine to clean carburetors, the type that uses liquid cleaner? What carb cleaner fluid do you recommend?

Don’t know the answer to your question but I read not to use Simple Green as it can discolor the castings.

I was doing aluminum parts in my ultrasonic cleaner today.... I use a product called 713, it's kind of like the old household cleaner 409... I buy it in 5 gallon totes... But I don't pay anywhere near what this guy charges.... I think I need to start selling it on Ebay...

The sonic cleaning action works so well you don't need harsh chemicals.... Fact is on carbs all those passages to are hard to clean get cleaned out really well... I've done probably a dozen carbs in the sonic bath & haven't had a single issue.. Back when I was using carb cleaner I had plenty of small passages that after soaking were still plugged, had to use tiny wire to poke through to break up blockages... Back in the 70's & 80's I did allot of carbs including later model electronic feedback & Variable Venturi stuff...

Oh yes. Put about a cup in, works excellent. I'm big into snowmobiles. With the ethanol in our fuel here, you have to clean the carbs every year before season. I think I do about 15 carbs every fall. Tried several different cleaners, pinesol works the best.

I like using Brakleen. No residue, works well on gunk (watch out for splashback in your eyes!)
and whatever won't blow out in passages from the pressure in the can, use compressed air.

I never put ethanol in any of my 2 stroke stuff and never have any carb problems with my outboard, chainsaws, leaf blowers or string trimmers.
And both 66's of course... but sometimes I have no choice like when we go to Carlisle cant seem to find any E-free in PA.

I wish we had the option for ethanol free. When we are in wisconsin we only run ethanol free, but here in corn country it's all ethanol.

Like Ed , I prefer brake clean for just a clean up inside and out of a in use carb needing a kit.
A carb that has set or one that is varnished. I still prefer to soak them a couple days tore down in the basket.
Napa carb soak or chem dip.

No just a cup or 2 for about 2 gallons of water

I run 10% 92 octane during the summer but add Stabil 360. It's been working out good. I run the tank almost empty and fill up with ethanol free for the winter storage.
