I got my rebuilt carb today and noticed that it doesnt have the little rod for one of the throttle links as the old one does. Any ideas to fix/attach the linkage? Pics explain it... 1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg

You need that split pin that the link was on in the lower picture. They are a set. It will come out pretty easily. Take a small punch and tap it out. Looks like you need to bend the sides of your link back together. Take a pair of pliers and put the link pin thru the link then line it up with the hole in the carb arm then push it thru the other side of your link with the pliers.

Yep, It should not be too tight. In days gone by the pin came packaged with the lost motion link if you were installing a factory cruise setup.

Any tips on tuning the carb? Should I turn the 2 idle screws in all the way then start it up and back each one out little by little?

Interesting, I got a thermoquad parts carb that had one of these on the throttle mechanism, is this for cruise control option then? I have always wondered what it was for.

It's called a lost motion link and is used with cruise. It allows you to accelerate to pass or get out of someone's way without turning off the cruise.
