Hey everyone, I just rebuilt my carb on my 71 318 and just realized I don't have the mounting studs. Anyone know where to get them/or what size they are? It's a carter 2bbd. I checked rockauto and they don't have them.

There are 2, and 2 bolts. The studs are quite small, I might have one around to check

Maybe try the Help section at a parts store?
Figured with this it's so old most parts stores wouldn't be able to tell me if it's the correct fit or not. I know they have studs, I just don't know what size to kit and would trust someone's opinion on here alot more than a parts store computer

Looks like right at 1 3/8". 5/16 fine/ coarse.

Sounds like you should invest in a Factory Service Manual and Factory Parts manual, for your vehicle, engine and specific year.....an excellent and invaluable source of information, available on line at no charge. The publications show carb settings, caskets, hardware, engine settings, etc. The studs you seek are high tensile hardware.....and not hardware store stuff, but maybe Grainger or Fastenall can supply.........just a thought......

You are a wise man, what is the torque of a 318 2 bbl carb base. Sounds like you're building a 1471 high helix

Hardware store carries grade #8 studs and bolts.

Course thread goes in to the manifold. Fine thread gets the nut. Size and pic above. Post number 5. Some stores are vacating the nuts and bolt business, but you should be able to find a store that does have them. Snug and tight with a 1/2 spanner. I am not home so can not check to be exact.

Am I missing something?
