Carbon tax on fuel

I'm all for a carbon tax! The minute that someone can show me unequavocal evidence that it works. All I've seen so far is that it does not work. It raises costs for the average person, and makes money for a bunch of rich a-holes who preach a wonderful game but actually do the opposite.

If one takes the time to read the link you might take the attitude that now the liberals are looking to provide free health care for illegals. If you read more you will see that what happens is illegals are getting free medical already at places like emergency rooms and the such. Now proposing to give someone that pays zero taxes free medical care and having us pay for it does not seem fair. But i know how hard it is to address a problem and look to solve it verus talking trash. illegals have been entering California for how long? You tell me. They do the jobs that our younger generation or really anybody else doesnt want to do. Whose cutting your grass, working in the kitchens of restaurants, being a laborer at construction sites and the list goes on and on and whose hiring them and reaping the benefits. When one of those illegals gets hurt on the job and goes to the emergency room, who pays for that visit? The company owner? Id think not. To get back on topic, making you pay more at the pump to give a tax credit to someone making a lower salary might not rub me right but using a few cents of the tax you already pay at the pump to fund mass transit which would reduce emissions and smog in cities does not sound all that bad.

Why do you guys keep electing these dipsh*ts? :)

One more reason to stay right here in Vegas. An associate and me are starting a small company with the goal of being fully operational by Jan 2016. We did our homework and found the 2 best business "tax" places in the US are Puerto Rico (due to some recently signed tax relief), and Nevada, which has no state "business tax", followed closely by Texas. We'll avoid the lunacy of the California state 17% business tax and stay right here.

And no carbon huggers.

No. You shouldnt have to leave your home to separate yourself from the lunatics. You and other like minded people in your county and surrounding counties can secede and form your own state.

Pretty much what I say. I'm the one born and raised in CA. Why the F#%&K should I leave?

In other words it's all a big lie.

Where the problem lies, is that certain people think that mass transit is the panacea that will cure all. Alas that is not and will never be that. It cannot, simply because it does not work for all.

Let me use myself as an example;

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango Hemi as my vehicle. It's roughly 6 miles to work each way. I basically work 7 of 14 days. If I drive my truck back & forth it costs me about 6 bucks worth of gas each day I work, but I leave about 20 minutes before I have to start and I get there about 5 minutes before start time. Now, if I was to take public transit I would have to leave at least an hour earlier so I could walk to the bus stop, wait for a transfer to another bus,,, and walk some more to work. That trip will cost me $2.55 one way. So 5.10 each day of work plus about 2hrs of my time. Plus, I still need my vehicle for other trips beyond work hrs so I'm still paying insurance etc for the vehicle. Now this Durango is a pig on gas; if I had some small compact car it would be much cheaper than transit. Now, I have to say, I don't pay for parking etc. so that isn't an added cost.
Someone like my son on the otherhand who works right on the bus route & would have to pay for parking is a different story.

I've been putting up with carbon tax on gas for a few years now.

No doubt the revenues will go toward fighting the emissions of forest fires, or volcanoes. Or perhaps naturally burning coal seams, of which there are over 1000 across the world burning right now and consuming between 20 and 200 million tons of coal each year.

I feel better, knowing that I'm helping.

"Naturally burning coal seams" Decades ago when i worked in the power house, the story goes the coal bunkers were full to the brime when the plant stoped burning coal permanently. The correct move would be to run those bunkers empty. Those bunkers started to burn and did so for years. No matter how much water was put on it and no matter how much dry chemical was dumped they continued to burn. I guess after around five years what happened was the mill pipeing was disconnected and the entire bunkers was dumped on the bottom elevation. They used mini front end loaders to remove it and it took weeks and was total mess

Revenue, revenue, revenue, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the most broke state comes up with the most ridiculous ways to come up with more of it. I feel for ya Bud, you guys need to raise enough hell that it ends there.

Correct. It's all revenue enhancement under the guise of "the good of the public".

----------------And thats the problem. Folks today are so skeptical and then they read were some politician decides that a tax increase on top of the already high tax they spend on fuel will now go to fund tax credits for families making below a certain level.

I think the whole system of fuel tax and higway use tax should be audited before a new tax can be implemented. Just to find out how many billions are high jacked to be used on pet projects that have nothing to do with transportation based pollution. Besides the science that California is hanging out there as proof is bogus. The research and studies was done buy a man that had no legitimate training our education in pollution. In short they lied.:glasses7:

Look at the brightside... everyone in California will likely die of thirst and starvation before they have to pay too much in carbon taxes. And the Delta Smelt... the only living thing in California that is getting water, is far more flexible on energy policy demands. :)

The problem is the people that raise hell are outnumbered (or becoming outnumbered) by the people who are on the receiving end of the government's generosity.

I wish !! BUT
"Unfortunately", I think the sheeple/Kool-Aid drinken' followers & liberal inner-city masses/almost all that moved here, from some-other state or country, "I may add" {not born & raised here, like me or Meeps}, in all the liberal masses of the coastal regions, far out number the rest of the good hard working tax paying people, in the rest of the state now, that isn't on the Govt. tit/take/monthly Govt. check anyway...

We use to be world & the countries leaders in almost everything/everyway, now today we're barely middle of the road now... Or at the bottom...

It's a damn shame, it use to be such a great place to be/live & work...

Thanks to elected a--holes like Pelosi Boxer Feinstein Brown Waters Waxman Bera etc.

But, yeah your probably right... on most of that statement...

Actually we have plenty of water east of the SF Bay Area, especially in Northern or Eastern/Central Calif., it all goes down to the populous, if not for the SF Bay Area, San Jose & LA watering all their opulent over the top landscaping {with no govt. oversight} & wasting "our" water, or utterly poor & Partisan Political water management...
