Ok guys,

I'm building a 440 stroker (500), with Edelbrock performer RPM heads and intake with a comp extreme energy cam (525 lift, 110 degrees, 231/237). This is going in a 69 Coronet 4spd with 3.54 gear.

I was thinking of a demon 850 but open to suggestions....

also, any issues with using a carb plate on an aluminum intake to hoist the engine?

850 will go fine, open spacer for top end 4 holed spacer for low end, mopar muscle magazine did a dyno test on spacers and a 2" spacer was the best gain

the 850 should pull upto 6000 rpm and be good for your aplication.i have seen many use the carb plate lift on aluminum intakes but have never trusted that myself.i lift off the end of the heads with an engine tilter attached to my hoist for ease and safety.

I know what you mean. The heads are aluminum as well. I just get nervous thinking about the stress on those bolt holes.

For a 500 CI engine I would go with the Quick Fuel 850 or a Holley 950. These two carbs are the best for that size motor. Don't worry about the 950 cfm Holley these carbs flow really well.
