Whats the best way to restore natural cast Iron parts on front end , I dont want to use paint, I have all parts sand blasted and need to darken them some how. and then put a wipe on sealer so it looks factory. any Ideas ?

I sand blast and prime and the use a "Cast Blast" paint from Eastwood.

I know you stated you did not want to paint items.

Have you ever left a "cast iron" part outside in the weather for a while?

Hint: It rusts....

Try powder coating it?

There may be a "clear" out there....

Your 'sealer' will likely darken them some. You can also dip them (for a short period!) in phosphoric acid prior to sealing them.

I did a quick google of "metal treatment acid" and found this link http://hghouston.com/resources/tech...-acid-treatment-of-steel-to-prevent-corr.aspx

Wikipedia lists this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickling_(metal)

Good luck. Concours type restorations are a pain in the *** to do, and maintain once complete. They also don't last for ever...unless your ride never gets driven.

I have used the RPM from ECS. I have the parts blasted using a combo of walnut shells and sand, then degrease with acetone, brush on RPM heat with a heat gun works great.

I pick up ECS -RPM Rust prevention magic a few weeks ago. Tried it on some parts other then suspention parts and it was not what i thought. It did somewhat change the look slightly and dulled the look. They say you can buff it a bit but u can buff it off if you go much and warm it up. It is just a top coat, i thought it might penatrate the metal but no.
Im sure it works great on brake drums and front end parts, i will use it on mine. I still have not found something that will penetrate bare metal with out changing its look. Also if you sand blast any metal parts chances are you loose that factory bare metal look. Metal cleaner, or a de ruster of some shorts first. That my long 2 cents. Cheers
