Is there some book, manual or website that would give me a step by step guide on how to change a 1970 383 Coronet 500's trans from an auto to a manual? With the proliferation of 5 and 6 speeds i wonder if it's that much more difficult to swap in a Tremec instead of an 833. I'm sure the tunnel would have to be enlarged. Doesn't the tunnel have to be modified somewhat for the shifter hump when swapping to a manual?

If you are looking for a 4 speed and all the parts for a swap, I would just call Brewers and they can provide everything you need. Otherwise you will go hunting for a year to find everything and only save a little money. For the 4 speed swap steps, this post on Dodge Charger is one of the best and what I followed when I did mine. How to do a 4 speed swap...with pictures!

Tremec will provide most parts you need and the new TKX is supposed to slide in with little to no tunnel mod. Here is a decent video on the swap in a Charger -

Oh KernDog? Are you there???
Find his thread on the Tremec swap. True life step by step WITHOUT MISSING NEEDED INFO. Unlike some "instructions" that get provided.

What are your wrenching skills like?
This isn't a job for someone who can't fix a lawnmower.
