This may have been done before, but's it's Friday night, I'm on Daddy Pop #3, and we need a fun thread. I know us arrogant B body owners like to sip tea with our pinkies held high but it's time to let the benchracing, smack talking, true story tellin fly. I need something to read and comment to that has some real meat.

What better topic than to verbally thrash some Chebys? Only Chebys, we'll save the Furds for another thread. I know you guys have some good ones. Who's first?

My dad has a 68 327 vette. Runs dart al heads... and a stock cam. And a 160 thermostat.

Damn cheby guy. :icon_puke_r:

Lets see. Where to start. How bout this. What did chebbie have to compete with the FIRST muscle car the Chrysler 300 in 1955? Nuthin. What did chebbie have to compete with ANY early Hemis on the strip and the oval track? Nuthin. What did chebbie have to compete with Max Wedges in 1963? Nuthin. What did chebbie have to compete with the 426 Hemi in 1964? Nuthin. What did chebbie have to compete with the 1969 Six Pack Road Runner? Nuthin. What did chebbie have to compete with the 1969 Daytona and 1970 Superbird? Nuthin. When Chrysler was still producing muscle cars all the way to 1974 and BEYOND, what did chebbie have to compete with? Nuthin. What did ANYBODY have in 1978 to compete with the FASTEST domestic production vehicle (a TRUCK)? Nuthin. Has Garlits ever raced a chebbie? No. Even Dale Earnhardt's FIRST ride was a Dan Gurney Challenger. The only reason he went chebbie is because all of the sanctioning bodies sanctioned Chrysler out of every motorsport because they were dominating. In fact, they were STILL WINNING with 305 cubic inch Hemis. Were it not for Bill France and Wally Parks bein all gayified over chebbie, the playing field wouldda been leveled and the REAL winner would have stepped forward. But both those dolts loved chebbie so much that they did everything in their power to see chebbie won. Plain and simply the truth. Like or not. Thank you drive through. Chebbie is ghey.

Oh yeah and what make did KING RICHARD HISSELF win 200 NASCAR victories with? MOPAR OR NO CAR that's what.

Rusty you must of never road in a 375HP 396 69 Nova.Set of slicks and headers a instant 11 second ride without even touching the factory engine.I had one and it wasnt for the faint of heart.

68 Hemi Dart with slicks and headers. 69 440 Dart with slicks and headers. Now be quiet.

...and I agree, those cars were tough. I've had a couple of fat motor Novas. I loved them. BUT, lemmie say this. 383 Road Runners ROUTINELY kicked big block Novas and Camaros asses. That said, surely so did 440 cars. So, between 383 AND 440 cars and big block Novas, which was made more of? Which was more the grocery getter? Which was MUCH more prolific? The Nova was quite rare with ANY big block. I mean FACTORY car. Not some fancy schmancy dealer option like Nickey, or Yenko, or Baldwin Motion. Mopar had the factory scene buttoned SLAM the hell up. Hands down.

Wanna Drag, I don't doubt you owned a SS 396 Nova but I think you have been knocking back too many cold ones tonight. That car would not run 11 second 1/4 mile times with just headers and a slicks.

How the hell have you lived on this site for that long? Nova is a 4 letter word, even to Cheby guys.
Rusty for President!:wtg:

you want a good one...

CHROME ADDS HORSEPOWER

**** you not, and it wasn't a sarcastic ball-bust, he actually meant it!!!

I actually like the big chebbie motors. They are one of those platforms that you can just stand back and throw them together and somehow they WORK. And work WELL. But they are not without their faults. They have a very weak factory valvetrain in stock form. They have a nasty reputation of galling and breaking pushrods. And of course, that leads to other more serious maladies. It can be overcome, but not cheaply.

The big Mopars on the other hand, have a reliable as all hell valvetrain. They also required much less camshaft to achieve the same results. Some of those chebbie cams were well over 300 degrees advertised duration. That's not very street friendly. Mopars were both fast AND reliable on an everyday point of view. I think it's fair to say that Mopar figured out how to do much more with much less. Take the 440 Six Pack in 1969. 390 horse power. Compare that to the 375 horse 396. It had a .520 lift solid lifter cam with 242* duration @.050. Much less street friendly than the Six Pack. Compare them yet again to the 375 horse 440. Geeze. The 440 sounded like a stone stock engine compared to the 11.5:1 396. To me, it's fun to compare them all. I like them all. Nuthin compares to American iron. Nuthin. But nuthin compares to Mopar, either.

Rusty for janitor! Dammit this is a Chevy bashing thread, you can't speak the truth.

You're bang on with the valve train comment though. I grew up in a town of Chebbies with only a couple of us Mopar geeks. The Chebby guys were constantly pulling valve covers. The only time us Mopar guys pulled them was to put new / different covers on.

^^^ LMAO !!! But you choose the 396 to compare a 440 to ? Why not the 427 or 455 or 454? Why the 396 ? Shouldnt that be compared to the 383 instead of the 440?

You guys slay me ... yes the 426 and 440 six pack were fearsom but comparing them to a 396 ? Thats scared little boy stuff right there..... ;)

Here are some facts for ya
