Someone is - see Davis AutoSportsThis is one vehicle that never should have gone out of production. An updated power plant could have ben the next gen, and they could have left the entire body alone. They serve all types, in stock form 2 door or 4 door, they sit low enough to drive like a car, but can handle snow(half the country does indeed have to actually drive in snow) they drive easy, they ride nice, they are easy to see out of. Enough power to get out of it's own way, but not so much to cost excessive mpg issues.
They did keep making these..... in China, for at least another decade. Without cat converters on them or any other emissions. Just a simple utility vehicle with a simple drivetrain.
They seem to hold up really well, in areas where they don;t have to deal with.... accelerants. Finding one in WI for example is not a simple task, unless you enjoy body work. I suspect someone could make a small fortune finding these and reworking them to nice and selling them up here. I am not skilled enough.
You could undercut those prices so hard, just need a rig to transport from the south or west coast to the midwest. Buy them for 8k and sell them up here for 12-15k. Higher miles? Drop both numbers by a few thousand.Someone is - see Davis AutoSports
Have your wallet ready...
Just missed a decent looking XJ in phoenix with a bad engine for 2200. If only I was an hour sooner seeing the ad.You could undercut those prices so hard, just need a rig to transport from the south or west coast to the midwest. In the salt belt, a non-running, 200,000 miles but completely rust free XJ is still worth 2-3K depending on what is going on with it.
Yikes. Talk about carnage.Just picked up another XJ. Guy overheated the engine and it died. Not sure what is going into it.
2000 XJ with 200K but rust free and interior is still really nice. Engine is toast. Big hole in piston.
