I’m putting my original intake and carb back on my 440 magnum and need to kno if I need to use one gasket between the intake and the choke cup and another between the choke cup and the choke?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that 1970 was the first year to use a stainless steel cup in the intake manifold for the choke coil. This required only one gasket to cup to manifold. The purpose was to allow the choke coil to react faster, to come off of the choke for emission requirements. The 1969 engine used a cast in place cup or depression in the manifold for the choke coil. It took longer for the exhaust gas cross over to heat and relax the choke coil.......just a thought.....

I'm working on a 70 Road Runner and the cup must be a low grade of stainless and the bolts too because I couldn't get a weld to stick to the bolts. I used a gasket and Permatex Ultra Copper for a gasket sealer. No leaks now. I had to use the old gasket, and it was kinda rough, because a new gasket doesn't come with any of the intake gasket sets I have. Maybe it comes with a full engine gasket set.

I'm not sure exactly what grade of stainless steel the cup is made from....it might be a ferritic stainless....a 400 series...chrome and iron no nickel but might be a low grade austenetic steel (chrome, nickel and iron) like 301 or 302......just a thought.....
