Here is the heater/AC switch that i did with a Krylon paint pen and a little soap and water.

Here is my gauge cluster with the "chrome" updated using the paint pen and one that is not yet updated. It had almost identical wear on it before i updated it.

I'd agree...if the budget isn't there for a new bezel or rechroming, you can make things look pretty nice with just a brush or paint pen.

I did a quick resto on my cluster (have aftermarket plans in the near future), but I think it came out great:
