Chroming Fiberglass Shops

The only way to chrome fiberglass is to use a sputtering or resistance evaporation process. Both are a high vacuum process and involve a lot of expensive equipment that car shops don't have not to mention the prep involved for the vacuum process. You can search PVD coating (physical vapor deposition or thin film coating). The surface will have to be perfect if you want it to look like a chrome bumper. Personally I'd be looking at chrome paint.

There is a "spray chrome" process which is very simple with the right equipment. There are busineses that do this procedure. I had it done to my dash plastic and was very pleased with it. Since it is basically a "paint" with urathane clear over it, that limits it's durability. Unlike paint, it is as close to chrome as anything I have seen................................MO

Call Frank Chester at Vacuum Orna-Metal in Romulus. 734-941-9100 (800-827-6762). They did all my dash panels and arm rest plates--great work and reasonable.

Anyone know where I can get my Fiberglass Bumper rechromed?

Please advise.

Thanks
Seeing how that I make a lot of fiberghlass bumpers, I get that question all the time. I always hear that someone is doing this process, but I have never heard of anybody stepping up to say----Hey, I do the chrome on the bumpers and it turns out good everytime and it is affordable too! One guy actually told me he wrapped his front bumper with chrome wrap that he bought off of ebay. He liked it.
