My Carter carby is real dirty, what is the best way to get it clean and tidy ? Carby clean and small brush ? Thoughts please.
Thanks, Tony

The correct way would be to procure a rebuild kit for your carburetor. Disassemble the carburetor completely and soak in suitable cleaning agent. Blow out all passages with compressed air and reassemble, taking care to adjust the float height correctly and other carburetor adjustments.

My advice is to either do a complete rebuild yourself - a new kit, or send it to someone who can do that for you. Should be around $150 for a re-kit and clean. Don't waste time and money on a can of CRC Carb cleaner....that just pushes dirt and problems where they can be got at.

I use to pay $150 for a rebuild and clean back in the day. $300 seems to be the going rate around here now-a-days.

super easy carb to rebuild.just do it yourself.take your time and double check everything.take pictures as you disassemble if you are worried about putting it back together right.

I use an ultrasonic to clean all my carbs. Also the bead blaster if they are really ugly. Then back in the ultrasonic to remove the beads.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 2BBL Carter Carb from my 71 Charger 318 right now. I bought a kit from Autozone for just under $20. Don't know what it would cost in NZ. I took it apart 2 days ago and now I just need to clean it and put it back together.
