I just installed a factory cooling fan w/ a new clutch on my Satellite (383). It did have some kind of a flex type fan that I did not like. Everything bolted right in but my question is, how close should the clutch thing be from the radiator? Right now it seems very close, like about 1/4". Is that to close or won't in matter? I just don't want to have it hit the radiator sometime. Thanks for any advise. 383MV

Any closer then that and you may have problems if the body flexes enough to reduce the distance. I cut across a median with a sharp dip in the middle and planted the fan in the radiator, but it was maybe an 1/8 inch away. I learned the hard way

Is there anyway to get more distance from the fan or do I have to look for a different clutch? Thanks for the info. 383MV

Which clutch did you use? The B Body one in my car is actual a part # for a Jaguar, but it has a very short height to it.

I'm not really sure. It was a new unit that I had in my garage for awhile. It has about a 2" snout on it where it bolts to the water pump. It did bolt right in but it's real close to my radiator. Would you happen to know the part number of the one that you used? The one that I used didn't have any numbers anywhere that I could find. Thanks 383MV

That's too close. I have a rad I took out of a 68 that the owners fan hit it from flexing off a rubber mount.
