I was curious what you guys are using for fans. I am having some cooling issues and recently bought a Mopar performance viscous fan with the short clutch(around 2 3/4 inches tall) and it ends up around 1/4 inch from the radiator. Is there a fan clutch that is shorter? I am running a 440 in a 65 belvedere with schumacher mounts and a U.S. Radiator 22" aluminum unit and a milodon pump. Is there a shorter clutch or is my radiator the issue. Thanks!

Or to simplify my previous long winded ramble, is there a shorter fan clutch than 2 3/4 inches?

Just my .02 but living in Texas in long hot summers the big key is a good fan shroud.. Non focused and non directed air looses tons of efficiency

i can feel your concern 1/4 would make me a bit nervous too. Technically it should never get closer but if the water pump bearings went out....... Could have an oops

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I'm getting an original 64 fan shroud soon but I still want to ditch this flex fan for something a little more original looking. The search continues......

Take current clutch to a Machine shop see if they can turn down the base, or cut off and tig weld closer. I have not tried this myself but a good machine ship might be able to help.

Yeah, I thought of that. I was wondering if moving the radiator back on its mounting brackets might be an option as well. Gonna call the radiator shop tomorrow.

There is a slimmer unit off a Jag, I can't recall the dimensions though. I have one but it might take a week for me to figure out where I put it. The app was an 86 Jag XJ6

Take your fan and clutch to napa. Ask to see a 261306. Take water pump pulley too. Make sure fan fits to clutch and pulley holes line up

Common problem most use Hayden part #2765 fan clutch. i use it and it works great.

I just bought one of these and it was too long. I think it's my radiator. It's a custom aluminum radiator. The Hayden 2765 is 2.65 inches tall and it puts the clutch 1/4 inch from my radiator. Thanks guys. I knew you guys would help me figure it out. Looks like I'll alter the radiator. I really hate flex fans.....

If you look the core support is notched on the top of the drivers side. The factory radiators are actually pushed forward on the drivers side in their brackets.
